Quito also has an exciting nightlife. Beginning on Thursday nights some bars open their doors around 8pm, filling the night with fun and music.
You can find various, diverse bars throughout Quito. The 180° , Zócalo , No Bar , Bunga , and Oz are some of the most popular and well-known bars in the city. Prices and special offers vary from bar to bar.
You can hear all kinds of music in Quito. salsa, cumbia, vallenato, hip-hop, rock, merengue, regaeton and techno are heard through the streets of Quito while the bars are open. There are also bars that only play one type of music, such as Seseribó and Cali , which play salsa.
The bars are mainly along the streets that cross Amazonas and also hold restaurants, Spanish language schools, cafes, and Internet cafes. But there are also bars in other neighborhoods, including along América Avenue or on the road to Cumbayá, one of Quito's suburbs.
Just as the type of music varies, so do the prices. There are bars where you only pay a $1 to enter, while others have cover charges starting at $5. Often there are promotions at the bars that include free drinks after paying the cover charge or reduced prices for certain drinks.
