Quito is a city full of culture. The cultural centers are very diverse and it is possible to find books of all types. Bookstores in Quito are not too diversified, nevertheless several bookstores can be found.

The main bookstores in the city are Libri Mundi, Mr. Books, Científica, Española and Studium. The first two are the biggest in Quito and have the most stores.

The stores of Libri Mundi and Mr. Books have the best assortment of books but are pricier. After taxes and the quality of the editorials the price of books are generally more than 10 dollars. Special editions, like encyclopedias or photography books can cost more than 50 dollars.

Smetimes stores in shopping centers, like Libri Mundi, Quicentro Shopping or Mr. Books, El Jardín, have a cafeteria where you can enjoy a capuchino (1 dollar) or a sushi roll (5.66 dollars) while you read a good book.

The other bookstores are usually cheaper. It is recommended that when choosing a book; take into account the publisher, since the better editorials cost more.

Some bookstores offer some specialized thematic; for example, Christian bookstores that exclusively sell books that deal with religion.

Cheaper options are used book, which you can find along the streets. You can sometimes find cheap books in the national newspapers. It is also recommended to inquire about book fairs that are done sporadically; where books are offered with great discounts.
